Shakopee Parks and Recreation offers a variety of programs for preschool and school-age children. Information about current programs is available in the latest activities brochure or contact Mark Schneider at 952-233-9511. Here are a few of our specialty programs:
Arrowheads Archery
Arrowheads Archery is a popular program that teaches youth the lifelong sport of archery. Through Arrowheads Archery, youth (ages 8-18) have the option of participating in USA Archery designed camps and weekly practices year-round. Private, semi-private, or small group lessons are now being offered. Contact Mason Moore at 952-233-9513 for more information about our archery program.
Ski Club
Shakopee Ski Club is open to middle school and senior high school-aged kids. Ski Club includes two sessions this year, each includes a Friday evening trip and a Monday all-day trip. Transportation and lift tickets are included; ski or snowboard equipment rental is on your own. Registration opens mid-August and will continue to one week before the first session date. The maximum number of participants we can take is 100. For more information, contact Mason Moore at 952-233-9513.
No-School Day Programs
No school? No problem! The Parks and Recreation Department offers day camp programming during no-school days including MEA, winter break and spring break. These programs include sports, movies, field trips and more. The programs are geared for youth ages 5 to 12. Deadline is always one week before the event.
Summer Day Camps
Our Summer Day Camps run Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with exciting weekly themes, daily fun activities, and frequent swimming at either SandVenture Aquatic Park or the Indoor Aquatic Park at the Community Center. Each week includes a special field trip, making every camp session a unique and memorable experience. These camps are geared for children ages 5 to 12.
Camp Little O's
This drop-off program is for kids ages 3-5 and takes place in the newly updated Kids Cove space at the Shakopee Community Center and is a great opportunity for them to be creative, develop social skills and have a A LOT of fun. Each session includes activities like indoor and outdoor games, sports, arts & crafts, and more! For more information, contact Courtney Satterthwaite at 952-233-9518.
