Citizen Pruners engages citizens in community forestry by assisting City staff with caring for neighborhood trees. Citizen Pruners are trained in tree identification, biology and pruning techniques. Tree pruning requires not only an understanding of how to prune, but also an understanding of the trees biology to make sure you prevent the spread of certain diseases.
The next Citizen Pruner training class is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24 in the Youth Building at Lions Park, 1099 Adams St., Shakopee. Cost to join the program is $20.
