The City of Shakopee offers many recreation opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages. Our thriving community is known as a regional entertainment destination with popular area attractions like Valleyfair amusement park and Canterbury Park racetrack.

The Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department also offers year-round recreation through its facilities, programs and special events. The city is currently completing a large expansion project to its Community Center, which includes a new ice arena, indoor aquatic park, fitness area, senior lounge and much more.

With more 920 acres of park and open space land, Shakopee's parks offer a variety of outdoor activities. Lions Park is a particularly favorite location with the outdoor SandVenture Aquatic Park, Fun For All Playground and splash pad.

The city also has 70 miles of trails. These trails are excellent for cyclists and pedestrians alike.
