The City of Shakopee is served primarily by the Shakopee School District 720; however, a small portion of the city’s industrial park falls into the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191. The city also has two parochial elementary schools.

The Shakopee School District serves more than 8,000 students in Shakopee, Savage, Prior Lake and the Jackson, Louisville and Sand Creek townships. The school district includes an early childhood center, five K-5 elementary schools, two 6-8 middle schools, one 9-12 high school and a 10-12 alternative learning center. It is governed by a seven-member Board of Education.
Shakopee Public Schools are known for its diverse student population (more than 40 languages are spoken), Project Lead the Way engineering program, college-prep opportunities and dedicated teaching staff.

Shakopee Area Catholic School (SACS) is a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade school serving area families since 1970. It is a consolidation of the three Catholic Shakopee parishes, which have been providing Catholic education for 150 years. The 840-student school is known for its integrated Catholic faith foundation, challenge academics, service learning and strong sense of community and family connection.

Living Hope Lutheran School is a pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade school that provides Christian education. A campus of Bloomington Lutheran School, it serves approximately 135 students. It is known for its strong Christian education, high academic standards and growing mind, body and soul.

SouthWest Metro Educational Cooperative is comprised of 10 member school districts located in Carver and Scott counties, providing customized programs and services to complement the district's existing programs.
