Part of the Department of Planning and Development, the economic development division assists expanding businesses and facilitates the expansion and redevelopment within the community by developing and implementing economic development programs, serving as a key point of contact for businesses looking to locate or expand in the city and guiding projects and proposals through the necessary approval processes.

The division also assists in the promotion and marketing of Shakopee for business development and job creation; serves as a key contact for existing and prospective businesses; and serves as a staff liaison for the Economic Development Authority (EDA).

County Road 101 Marketing Plan

In March 2014, Hoisington Koegler Group Inc. presented the 101 Corridor Marketing Plan [PDF] before the City Council. The plan looks at land use along the Downtown/First Avenue Corridor, transportation and infrastructure, leveraging the riverfront, marketing, residential development and more.
