Community Center Improvements Groundbreaking

Groundbreaking FlyerJoin the City of Shakopee in breaking ground on the Shakopee Ice Arena and Community Center improvements project at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 1 on the Community Center campus, 1255 Fuller St. S.

The City is embarking on a $30.4 million improvements project, which includes:

  • Construction of a new, two-sheet ice arena
  • Remodeling the existing Community Center to add a community room, indoor playground, drop-off child care, senior lounge and teen center
  • Addition of a 24,500-square-foot aquatic center with zero-depth-entry pool, water slide and lap pool
  • Enhancements to fitness center and studios

Members of the Shakopee City Council and Park & Recreation Advisory Board will participate in the groundbreaking event. The community is invited to attend and learn more about the project. Refreshments will be served.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible organizations may request that the city promote events using city communication tools. Events must be open to the public and community oriented. Posting of event information is based on available space and available staff resources to make the posting. A request to display an event does not guarantee that it will be posted. 

Eligible organizations are government organizations; Shakopee-based, not-for-profit or nonprofit entities; and city-recognized service organizations and athletic associations affiliated with the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department. 

City staff will not be responsible for the design of promotional materials. Ongoing or recurring events (i.e. monthly or weekly events) will not be posted. The city reserves the right to edit message information for space, clarity or content. If the city requires edits, city staff will inform the individual making the request.
