The Shakopee Fire Department is hosting a recruitment event for residents interested in learning more about becoming a paid-on-call firefighter. Two events will be held  at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 and 8 a.m. Jan. 14 at Shakopee Fire Station 1, 2700 Vierling Drive E. These will be opportunities for interested candidates and their spouses to learn more about the role and responsibilities of being a paid-on-call firefighter, as well as participate in hands-on skill stations. Parents should leave their children at home.

Candidates interested in attending a recruitment event are asked to email fireinfo@ShakopeeMN.gov and indicate which session they will be attending in order to provide the Department with a proper estimate.

Paid-on-call firefighter applications will be accepted on the city website beginning in mid-January 2017. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for February with a May start date.
