Seniors (55+) are invited to a free presentation about Prohibition and Scott County from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12 in the Community Room at the Shakopee Community Center, 1255 Fuller St. S.
You could say it all began in 1673 when Increase Mather wrote “wine is from God, but the Drunkard is from the Devil.” As of January 1920 anything over .5% alcohol became illegal in the United States. Nowhere was alcohol consumption more prevalent than in the cities, and Minnesota cities were no exception. But the excitement wasn’t limited to the big city; Scott County had its share of fun. Discover how Prohibition played out in Scott County.
Please RSVP to Senior Coordinator Carla Kress at 952-233-9516 by Wednesday, July 5. Presentation is sponsored by McNearny & Schmidt Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
