Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan Open House

Residents are invited to provide feedback on the future of Shakopee’s parks system by attending an open house event from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at the Shakopee Community Center, 1255 Fuller St. S.

The Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan began as a spin off from the 2040 Envision Shakopee Comprehensive Plan update process. During the Envision Shakopee process, city leaders and staff recognized that Shakopee’s park system required more extensive planning and community participation to ensure the plan fits the city’s long-term needs.

At the open house, community members will have an opportunity to view the Master Plan draft before it goes to the Shakopee City Council. City leaders and staff encourage residents to see the potential future of Shakopee’s parks and provide further feedback to ensure the plan truly is the vision of its residents.

For residents who cannot attend the Aug. 5 meeting, the draft will also be posted on the city website for public comment. For more information, visit www.ShakopeeMN.gov.
