Join the City of Shakopee and the Shakopee Parks & Recreation Department at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 for the grand opening of Southbridge Community Park, 7101 Southbridge Parkway.
The community is invited to stop by for an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:45 p.m., followed by refreshments, snacks and prizes. The public can also sign up for the Police Department’s new Dog Walker Watch program and purchase a dog license. The fee to use the dog park is included in the City of Shakopee dog license; all dogs, including resident and non-resident dogs, must be licensed in the City of Shakopee and properly vaccinated. The dog tag must be displayed.
This large community park will be the home of Shakopee’s first dog park. The dog park contains trails that meander through the beautiful oak savanna, a .25-acre small dog area, a 9.5-acre all-bread area, a drinking fountain and a wash station. The park also has paved trails outside of the dog park. A hockey rink and warming house/shelter are planned for construction in 2015.
