The city has two active boards and commissions that advise and assist the City Council in setting policy:

The City Council also appoints members to the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission (SPUC), which oversees the operation of the publicly owned water and electric utilities. It is composed of five members who serve three-year terms.

Appointments

Interested Shakopee residents are invited to serve on city boards and commissions. Most appointments are made during the months of February and March. The City Council is responsible for appointing members to the city’s advisory boards and commissions.

Planning Commission/BOAA Meeting

  • Intro Text 7 p.m. at City Hall

The Planning Commission/BOAA typically meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month.

It is anticipated that some or all of the members of the Planning Commission/BOAA will participate in the June 4, 2020, meeting by video conference rather than by being personally present at the City Hall council chambers, 485 Goman St., Shakopee. The public can monitor the meeting, which starts at 7 p.m., live on Shakopee Government TV or www.ShakopeeMN.gov/livestream.

Public comments may be made online in advance at www.shakopeemn.gov/government/mayor-city-council/agendas-minutes/public-comment or contact the case manager listed with each project. The public will be allowed to attend the meeting in person, practicing social distancing and health safety. You will be able to make your comment in person and answer any questions of the Board or Commission and then leave the building.

Meetings are televised on Shakopee Government TV and live-streamed through the city's website. Agendas are posted the Friday before each meeting at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/agendasandminutes.
