The city has two active boards and commissions that advise and assist the City Council in setting policy:

The City Council also appoints members to the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission (SPUC), which oversees the operation of the publicly owned water and electric utilities. It is composed of five members who serve three-year terms.

Appointments

Interested Shakopee residents are invited to serve on city boards and commissions. Most appointments are made during the months of February and March. The City Council is responsible for appointing members to the city’s advisory boards and commissions.

Upcoming Boards and Commissions Meetings

Joint City Council / EDAC / Planning Commission Meeting

  • Intro Text 7:30 p.m. at City Hall

A special joint meeting with the City Council, Economic Development Advisory Committee and Planning Commission will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 prior to the EDAC’s regularly scheduled meeting. The joint meeting will be held to discuss the master land use plan being developed for the western edge of Shakopee and select areas in adjacent Jackson Township. The regular monthly EDAC meeting will follow.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee typically meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings are televised on Comcast Cable Channel 16 and live-streamed through the City's website.
