In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, join the Fire Department at its annual Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4 at Fire Station 1, 2700 Vierling Drive E. This is a free event open to all ages!
The open house will feature kids' activities, light refreshments, fire truck tours and the opportunity to spray a fire hose and rescue a teddy bear from a training room. Don't miss the vehicle fire demonstration at 6 p.m., as well as vehicle extrication demonstrations throughout the evening.
This year's National Fire Prevention Week theme is "Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety" and will focus on education about the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and how they help save lives.
