In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, join the Fire Department at its annual Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at Fire Station 1, 2700 Vierling Drive E. This is a free event open to all ages!

The open house will feature kids' activities, light refreshments, fire truck tours and the opportunity to spray a fire hose and rescue a teddy bear from a training room. The technical rescue team will be highlighting some abilities of high and low-angle rescue. This year's National Fire Prevention Week theme is "Fire Won't Wait. Plan Your Escape" and will focus on education about the importance of having a home escape plan in case of emergency.
