Fitness Court Grand Opening

Come for the Fitness Court Grand Opening — stay for the games, free fitness class demos, and Police vs. Fire Relay Race!

McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog will even be there to help us cheer on Shakopee's finest as Team Police and Team Fire race through the Fitness Court stations in a thrilling competition to win the ✨Golden Badge of Glory✨

Try out the new court for yourself with a variety of free 10-minute fitness classes hosted by certified instructors. Stay for one or join them all!

This event is free, family-friendly, and the Fitness Court is located next to the newly upgraded Scenic Heights Park playground equipment. There will be games, activities, resource booths, and free water available.

Estimated Event Schedule:
1:30 — Welcome and remarks from representatives of the City of Shakopee, Scott County, and community partners
1:50 — Ribbon cutting
2:00 — Fitness court demonstration
2:10 — Police vs. Fire Relay Race for the ✨Golden Badge of Glory✨
2:30 — Free 10-minute fitness classes begin and run for one hour

Community members are encouraged to browse the resource booths, check out the games and activities, or say hi to McGruff and Sparky throughout the duration of the event.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible organizations may request that the city promote events using city communication tools. Events must be open to the public and community oriented. Posting of event information is based on available space and available staff resources to make the posting. A request to display an event does not guarantee that it will be posted. 

Eligible organizations are government organizations; Shakopee-based, not-for-profit or nonprofit entities; and city-recognized service organizations and athletic associations affiliated with the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department. 

City staff will not be responsible for the design of promotional materials. Ongoing or recurring events (i.e. monthly or weekly events) will not be posted. The city reserves the right to edit message information for space, clarity or content. If the city requires edits, city staff will inform the individual making the request.
