Public Open House for Proposed Community Center Improvements

  • Intro Text 7-9 p.m. at Sun Path Elementary

Residents are invited to share their thoughts on proposed improvements to the Shakopee Community Center during three upcoming open houses:

  • 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Community Center, 1255 Fuller St. S.
  • 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 1 at Sun Path Elementary Cafeteria, 2250 17th Ave. E.
  • 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 at Eagle Creek Elementary Cafeteria, 6855 Woodward Ave.

In November 2014, the City began exploring the possibility of improvements to the Community Center. A study was conducted earlier this year, which presented several options for consideration. The City Council identified five potential options for improvements, which can be viewed on the project webpage.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible organizations may request that the city promote events using city communication tools. Events must be open to the public and community oriented. Posting of event information is based on available space and available staff resources to make the posting. A request to display an event does not guarantee that it will be posted. 

Eligible organizations are government organizations; Shakopee-based, not-for-profit or nonprofit entities; and city-recognized service organizations and athletic associations affiliated with the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department. 

City staff will not be responsible for the design of promotional materials. Ongoing or recurring events (i.e. monthly or weekly events) will not be posted. The city reserves the right to edit message information for space, clarity or content. If the city requires edits, city staff will inform the individual making the request.
