Jack-o'-Lantern 5K and Kids 1/2-mile Pumpkin Run

  • Intro Text 9 a.m. 5K; Kids Pumpkin Run immediately to follow at Community Center

Runner dressed as a pumpkinDust off your costumes and bring the whole family for fun and fitness at the Parks & Recreation Department's sixth annual Jack-o'-Lantern 5K and Kids 1/2-mile Pumpkin Run.

Halloween costumes are encouraged with prizes for Best Costume, plus awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Race begins and ends at the Shakopee Community Center.

Strollers allowed but must start the race at the back. Dogs are not allowed on the course but are welcome to spectate.

Race time is 9 a.m. with Kids Pumpkin Run to follow immediately.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible organizations may request that the city promote events using city communication tools. Events must be open to the public and community oriented. Posting of event information is based on available space and available staff resources to make the posting. A request to display an event does not guarantee that it will be posted. 

Eligible organizations are government organizations; Shakopee-based, not-for-profit or nonprofit entities; and city-recognized service organizations and athletic associations affiliated with the Shakopee Parks and Recreation Department. 

City staff will not be responsible for the design of promotional materials. Ongoing or recurring events (i.e. monthly or weekly events) will not be posted. The city reserves the right to edit message information for space, clarity or content. If the city requires edits, city staff will inform the individual making the request.
