Special assessments are a charge to properties for the cost of making public improvement that directly benefit the properties or to recover the cost of services charges, such as:
- Unpaid garbage, sewer and/or storm drainage utility bills

For delinquent sewer and/or storm drainage utility bills, contact Shakopee Public Utilities Customer Service at 952-445-1988 to obtain any delinquent bill amounts that have not yet been levied against the property. Please make sure to request all accounts at the property address.

For delinquent garbage bills, contact DSI Customer Service at 952-469-2239 to obtain any delinquent garbage bill amounts that have not yet been levied against the property. Inquiries should be identified by the property address and not by owner's name.

- Snow, ice or weed removal from sidewalks or private property
- Removal and care of diseased and/or surrounding trees
- False alarms
Property Assessment Lookup
The eProperty lookup tool shows pending or levied assessments for specific properties. Properties may be selected by address or parcel identification number. Assessment and payment information is updated regularly.

Special Assessments for Public Improvements
The Special Assessment Policies and Procedures [PDF] outlines the city's systematic assessment process for recovering and distributing the cost of public improvements, e.g., street reconstruction.
