The city plans to construct a multi-use trail on both sides of Marystown Road, including re-purposing the US Highway 169 Bridge, which will connect a gap in the city’s trail system.

The proposed trail on both sides of the roadway completes an existing trail gap in the area:

  • The proposed trail on the west side will connect Tahpah Park to Windemere Way over Highway 169.
  • The proposed trail on the east side of Marystown Road will connect the Hy-Vee development to 17th Avenue, serving the Trident Development and connecting to Jackson Elementary School.

The Marystown Road Trail Connection project addresses a gap in the sidewalk network at the Marystown Road and County Highway 16 (17th Avenue) intersection and puts in place infrastructure to comply with ADA standards and allow for the safe crossing of pedestrians, bicyclists, and wheelchairs.
